Family Guy and The Simpsons: Crossovers we want

Family Guy and The Simpsons: Crossovers we wantThe Griffin and Simpson families will meet in a historic Simpsons and Family Guy crossover episode this Friday in the US. Between them, the two cartoon comedy stalwarts have 37 seasons under their belts.

The Griffins will accidentally arrive in Springfield, where they are befriended by the Simpson family. Homer and Peter will bond over doughnuts before things get nuclear (of course), Lisa tries to improve Meg’s self-confidence and Bart teaches Stewie to skateboard.

The crossover episode is expected to air sometime in 2015 in the UK.

In celebration of the event, here are some TV crossovers we’re dying to see:

Sherlock/Doctor Who

The possibility of “Wholock” has been talked about on the internet since 2010. Moffat recently added more fuel to the fire by suggesting he’s totally up for it, but the “bunch of killjoys” he works with are not so enamoured with the idea. Okay, it might be a little hard work, but there’s no doubt the result could be epic. Imagine John trying to restrain a Sherlock set loose on the mysteries of time and space. I’m not sure which of the two would have a mental breakdown first. Then there’s the Doctor, who probably wouldn’t appreciate having an intellectual equal around – screw that, neither of them would – a battle of the wits could be amazing.

Eastenders/Coronation Street

Okay, I know this has happened before for Children in Need 2010, but personally I get a kick out of imagining the characters of Coronation Street and EastEnders all live in the same big soap-verse and NEED to see more. A big anniversary of soap, or TV, or something would be amazing for a half-hour crossover. I need another round of Kat vs Michelle (maybe in a few months time, to give poor Kat a break from her current storyline). Denise and Gail have since experienced more tragedy to share with one another. And what about the characters that haven’t met yet? I’m totally sold.

The Big Bang Theory/Two and a Half Men

Basically, all the Chuck Lorre shows in one hilarious 22 minute episode plus advertisements. Charlie Sheen appeared in an early episode of The Big Bang Theory as himself, but that should no longer be a problem now that he’s been infamously sacked. New beach house owner Walden is a beautiful nerd – he’d fit in fine with the TBBT guys, albeit perhaps with not a small amount of jealousy. Alan can trade disgusting dating stories with Howard (Bernadette might have to disappear for a bit). Jenny would almost certainly be after Penny. Maybe the guys could be invited to be beta-testers for Walden’s new software – seriously Lorre, this stuff writes itself.

What do you guys think? Are you excited to see Homer and Peter face off? Are there any other TV crossovers you’re dying to see? Leave us a comment below!
